My recent freelance work includes translating a monograph about artificial consciousness, transating video interviews for a sports documentary, machine translation post-editing for a technical manual, and editing of a book-length translated memoir.
From 2012-2015, I was the managing editor of Translation Review, and from 2012-2014, I served as director of the American Literary Translators Association. Previously, I taught journalism, new media, and writing at Rowan University, Rosemont College, and The University of Texas at Dallas. I worked as a reporter, editor, and content strategist for newspapers, magazines, and websites for more than a decade.
Education and Training
I completed my PhD in Humanities at The University of Texas at Dallas in 2015. My dissertation, "Translation in the Digital Age: Reconstructing Montaigne's 'Du Repentir'" includes a hypertext translation of an essay by Michel de Montaigne. I also hold a Diplôme approfondi de langue françae (DALF C1), an MA in Journalism from New York University, and an MFA in Creative Writing from Rosemont College.
Attention to detail
Result: Polished, professional prose
Polished, professional prose, on-time, every time
Whether you're looking to have a news article or interview translated, or if you're looking to attract American readers to your online publication, I can help. I have more than 20 years of experience as a reporter, editor, and content strategist.
From typos to intercultural communication, I can help you polish your prose. I've worked on texts as short as blog posts and as long as academic monographs. I can work with a number of style guides, including MLA, Chicago, APA, and IEEE, or we can work together to develop a custom style guide for your document.
With more than 20 years of experience creating and editing websites, I can make your website content shine in English for your target audience.
Machine translation can speed up the translation process, but it needs to be managed and verified by a qualified human translator. In the last two years, I have post-edited more than 500,000 words using the latest version of SDL Trados.
If you need to translate or edit texts in the humanities, you know the importance of domain expertise. Thanks to my educational and professional background in academia, I can assure your translated or edited text will meet the high standards of the scholarly community.
Academic writing and publishing is difficult enough if you're working in your native language. If you're not, I can help you make sure your English style, grammar, and vocabulary are as precise as any native English speaker's.
